Dr. Cheng is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint disorders of the upper and lower extremities. with subspecialty training in sports injuries to shoulders and knees.
Dr. Cheng received medical training at Northwestern University and returned to the Bay Area to train at UCSF in the department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Cheng pursued an additional year of fellowship training in Sports Medicine where he gained numerous experience in treating elite and professional athletes. He served as team physician for several high schools and local colleges. He holds an additional C.A.Q. in Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Cheng has a personal interest in shoulder injuries, lecturing internationally.
He has been a master instructor in shoulder surgery for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopic Association of North America, and the San Diego Shoulder Arthroscopy Course.
Dr. Cheng has also been an active member of Operation Arthroscopy where he travelled to third world countries to teach orthopedic surgeons on advanced shoulder techniques.
